Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in this category with a grade of A. Inspection grades weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 14 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of B-. The nursing rating is based on many components, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
The next best category we awarded this facility in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. For patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated just 87.03704 percent of its patients. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in short-term care. This was the nursing home's least impressive category score. Short-term care grades are typically employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final statistic we considered in this category is the number of patients who ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.1 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
