Awards
Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an A for our nursing score. The nursing score consists of several subcategories, however, the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home performed well in the area of short-term care. As a result, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our most impressive grades. Short-term care grades are generally used to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To have quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections
Adding yet another impressive category grade, we awarded this facility a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is what you want to see on an inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was long-term care. This facility received an above average long-term care score in our assessment, with a grade of B. This facility really didn't have any weak categories. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 89.83452 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
