Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. In computing a nursing home's nursing score, we look at the number of hours nurses are caring for patients and the level of skill of those nurses. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning patients more often.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its superb resume, this nursing home also performed well in our short-term care area. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in that area. Our short-term care scores are meaningful for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections
Another quality feature of this nursing home is its inspection grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an A-. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category tend to have very few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. A deficiency-free inspection report is what we look for.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated is long-term care. In this category, we gave this nursing home an impressive grade of B. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.54338 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
