Facility Inspections
Although we didn't give this nursing home a good overall grade, we actually gave it a relatively strong grade in the area of inspections, where it received a B+. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid places with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's next highest score is long-term care. As it turns out, with a grade of D in this area, it still fared relatively poorly. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 96.8421 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second least favorable score is short-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a relatively poor score. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to the next area, we awarded this nursing home a D for nursing. This is the nursing home's least impressive category grade. When computing our nursing scores, we assess both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home was above average in two of the major metrics we focus on, with good scores for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
