Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid health inspections in recent years. We gave it a B in this category, which was much better than its overall score. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid facilities that had a long list of deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received an impressive grade in our long-term care category. We gave this nursing home a better than average grade of B in that category. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 98.91008 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's next best area came in the area of short-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a C. Short-term care grades are vital for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the fourth category, this facility really didn't fare very well in this category either. Due to a poor grade of F in nursing, this is really as bad as it gets. When computing a facility's nursing score, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are with patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is well below average. On top of its below average nursing hour totals, this nursing home also earned poor marks in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We found that a higher percentage of this facility's residents suffered falls leading to serious injury. We believe that many falls could be avoided with better nursing care. This metric contributed to this place receiving a terrible nursing grade.
