Facility Inspections
This facility received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A+ in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also excelled in the area of long-term care, where it received a score of A. Not many facilities performed better in this area. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 90.21739 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit lower than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Moving on to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this facility an D. Our nursing category assesses several subcategories, most of which are associated with nursing hours. This place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these datapoints to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed was short-term care, which turned out to be this facility's weakest category. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in that category. Sadly, this grade hurt the nursing home's overall grade to a certain degree. Short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. We found that this place was subpar in many staffing areas we looked at. It supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
