Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its favorable overall performance, we awarded this facility an A for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among this nursing home's other accomplishments is its top-shelf long-term care grade. It received one of our most favorable grades in that category, with a score of A. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 99.07976 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. The nursing rating weighs several datapoints, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we assessed was short-term care, where this facility received a B-. Even though this proved to be its lowest category rating, this is nevertheless not the end of the world. Our short-term care grades are critical for individuals needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. We were not able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 4.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
