Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also excelled in our short-term care category, where it received an A. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Our short-term care grades are believed to be most meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. The nursing score includes many datapoints, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
Racking up yet another strong category grade, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an impressive grade of A. Few facilities performed better in this area. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A few minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed ended up being this facility's worst area. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still gave it an acceptable grade of B- in our long-term care category. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were not able to find this place's vaccination data. Lastly, this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
