Facility Inspections
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also earned an A+ inspection score. This is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can pay to a facility. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
We also would like to emphasize the fact that this nursing home was given a superb grade of A- in our long-term care category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 98.57143 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, this nursing home also received favorable short-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we awarded them one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a score of B+. Our short-term care grades are arguably most important for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
In our last category, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent nursing grade, with a grade of B+. This wrapped up a first-rate report card. There are quite a few factors included in this area. Many of the subcategories reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place excelled in these areas, with excellent scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a facility provides.
