Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
The main reason this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this facility a grade of A-. Nursing grades are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also would like to point out that this facility was awarded positive short-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our more impressive scores in this area, with a B+. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest grade. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of C. Our long-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's volume of nursing services. This includes a vast range of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 96.42857 percent of its patients. This nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
In the last category of government inspections, we gave this facility a D for our inspection category. This was its worst category grade, particularly in light of some of the more impressive scores discussed above. Nevertheless, since this data is compiled by a government inspector, we weight it heavily in our assessment. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 8 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility also received 6 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
