While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Surprisingly, we gave this nursing home a grade of B- for our long-term care rating, which really isn't a bad grade. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated just 71.58859 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care grade. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Given its grade in this category, we weren't stunned to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

The final category we graded was nursing, in which this nursing home was given an abysmal grade in this category as well. Sadly, it received an F in this area, which is definitely a major disappointment. We weighed the licensure of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses were with residents, in determining our score in this area. This facility provided just 0.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place was above average in two of the major statistics we considered, with solid marks for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. These metrics are usually good indicators of the quality of nursing care available.
