Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Grade: A

In addition, this facility also received a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an A. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this area typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our nursing rating is based on a variety of factors. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth category we rated was short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a B+. This finished off a very impressive profile. Few nursing homes earned a B+ or better in all four categories. In our short-term care score, we attempt to forge a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this facility provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
