Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize that this facility earned near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category usually have very few severe deficiencies. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. There are a variety of subcategories within this category. Most of the datapoints relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of moving a patient more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received a first-rate long-term care grade. This actually is this nursing home's third most impressive category grade. In that area, this facility received a score of A-. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.27536 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we graded is short-term care, where this nursing home received a B-. While this proved to be its poorest category score, this is still a middle of the pack score. Our short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 3.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
