Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also excelled in the area of long-term care, with a superb score of A- in this area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 98.6376 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home's third best category is short-term care. Nevertheless, with a grade of D in this category, it still performed somewhat badly. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. It looks like this nursing home was below average in many staffing areas we focus on. The facility supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The final area we graded was nursing, which proved to be this nursing home's weakest area. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is clearly a major disappointment. When calculating our nursing scores, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these data points to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
