Short-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive category grades, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is primarily based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was long-term care. We awarded this facility an acceptable score in that category, with a B-. While this isn't as strong as a few of its other scores, it is nevertheless not a major area of concern. In the area of long-term care, we weigh the amount of care provided by a nursing home, as opposed to more healthcare-oriented services. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.342545 percent of its residents, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. This place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
