Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also fared well in the area of long-term care, where it earned an A. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. There are a variety of datapoints included in this category. Most of the subcategories relate to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Tallying yet another strong category grade, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned a grade of A-. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we assessed was this nursing home's poorest area. However, even in its worst category we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- for our short-term care category. Our short-term care grades are critical for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
