Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to offering very favorable levels of nursing care and other staffing, this nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This statistic is also significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.13 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Nursing grades are largely associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 4.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Very few nursing homes provide this quantity of nursing care to their patients. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. On top of offering impressive levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in several of the quality measures we assessed. With below 5 percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Turning to our inspection category, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- for that category. Our inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we scored proved to be this nursing home's worst category. However, even its lowest point would actually be a highlight for most nursing homes. In fact, we gave it an above average grade of B for short-term care. Our short-term care grade is often employed to grade a facility's rehabilitation services. To have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that it fared respectably with 47.7 percent of its residents returning home.
