Long-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home a grade of A- for our long-term care score. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 79.203545 percent of its residents. This is a bit below what we expected but still a decent figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
This facility also excelled in inspections, where it earned an A-. Inspection grades are tied to items found on the a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. Our nursing rating assesses the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. Although this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this subcategory. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving a resident at least once a day.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next category, this facility did not perform well. Due to a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is this nursing home's worst grade. Our short-term care grades are thought to be more critical for patients requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This means not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
