Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to earning a great overall score, this nursing home received an A+ in our short-term care rating. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to forge a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Racking up another strong category grade, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A-. Few facilities fared better in this category. Inspection grades are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a grade of B-. This actually proved to be this facility's weakest area. This is nevertheless not the end of the world. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 95.918365 percent of its patients. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
