Registered Staff Hours
This facility earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave them an A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be relatively insignificant. It doesn't look like we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. We would like to have more data for this nursing home. Without having complete deficiency related data, it was a challenge to assess this facility in this area.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we awarded this nursing home a B in our short-term care category. This is one of our more impressive grades. Our short-term care scores are important for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. We were not able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
The next best category we awarded this facility in any area came in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Long-term care scores are vital for individuals needing personal care. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid percentage. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
The next area we graded is nursing, was this facility's weakest category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. This was one of just a few weak links of an otherwise strong report card. The nursing category includes quite a few data points, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
