In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. There are numerous subcategories included in this grade. Most of the datapoints relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This place provided 5.6 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is among the better figures in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We are really impressed by these statistics. In addition to offering impressive levels of care, this place also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. It performed as well as any facility in the state in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
An additional reason we rated this nursing home so highly is that it was given an A+ short-term care score. This is simply as dominant as it gets in this category. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. This nursing home provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is certainly a great sign. The final measure we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it fared as well as just about any facility in Virginia in this area with 74 percent of its patients returning home.

Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.38 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
