Nurse Quality

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility excelled in nursing. We awarded it an A for that category. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving a resident more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this nursing home also received a superb short-term care score, with a grade of A. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we size up a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is considered to be a useful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Moving on our next category, this facility was given a top-shelf long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in this category. Nursing homes that excel in this category typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 98.227844 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. With this grade, the nursing home completes its straight A report card. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
