Long-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in the area of long-term care, where it earned an A+. Few facilities performed better in this area. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a great way to minimize negative health outcomes for the senior population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive grades, we gave this facility a grade of A for inspections. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. Nursing grades are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning a patient more often.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the fourth category, this facility received an acceptable short-term care grade. While this isn't quite as impressive as several of its other scores, this is still nothing to be ashamed of. With our short-term care assessment, we strive to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
