Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of performing well overall, this facility received nearly flawless government inspections. Therefore, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Inspection ratings are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Nursing grades are mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning our next category, we gave this facility a grade of A for our long-term care rating. This is a first-rate grade. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.34042 percent of its patients, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category we assessed, this nursing home was awarded an impressive grade grade of B+ in our short-term care category. With this score, the nursing home wrapped up a very strong profile. In computing our short-term care scores, we scrutinize a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is often a fair assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
