Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Our inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Surprisingly, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for its long-term care score, which is not too bad of a score. Long-term care scores are pivotal for people needing non-healthcare services such as personal care. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 93.28859 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is a bit lower than we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we graded is short-term care. This facility's was given an unfortunate short-term care grade where it was given an F. With our short-term care score, we seek to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With its grade in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to the final area, this facility really did not fare very well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. When computing a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are with patients and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
