Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. This nursing home's vaccination data were a bit weaker than some of the other datapoints in this category, such as its number of nursing hours per resident. It administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 84.81848 percent of its residents. We'd love to see some improvement herein this statistic in the future. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.66 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

The next category we looked at was inspections, where this facility also received an A+ grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. In computing our nursing ratings, we weigh both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This facility offers extremely high levels of nursing care, averaging 4.6 hours per resident daily. This is more nursing care than nearly any other place provides. Lastly, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is generally a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented with better nursing care and having a policy of regularly turning residents to avoid bed sores.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we analyzed is short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a strong grade of B. In determining these short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. The final statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
