Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we did not have many favorable things to say about this place's overall grade, it did receive a respectable government inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. The nursing score analyzes quite a few subcategories, however, the most important consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a low total compared to most facilities. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third most favorable category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. In computing these short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to devise a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The more important thing is determining what effect this had on the quality of care. The final item we looked at in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we analyzed was long-term care. This nursing home received a grade of B- in the area. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 91.17647 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be somewhat below what we expected but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Nevertheless, this facility excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
