Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, it also earned A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly perfect. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Our nursing score assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was strong in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a score of A. Only a select group of facilities performed better in this area. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we graded was short-term care, where this facility was given a B. Believe it or not, this ended up being this facility's least impressive category. A nursing home could be doing a lot worse when their weakest score still is better than most other nursing homes. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
