Facility Inspections

One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this category. Inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

This facility also fared very well in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a score of A. Few nursing homes received a better grade in this area. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Pneumonia can be a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Short-term care grades are crucial for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
