Historical

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home fared well in short-term care. We awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest grades. Short-term care scores are critical for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. This facility performed much better in the final metric we looked at in this area, which was the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in Texas in this area with 62.4 percent of its residents returning home. With most facilities, less than half of their short-term patients ever return home.

This nursing home performed well in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Nursing ratings are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Adding another impressive category grade, we gave this nursing home an impressive grade of B+ for our inspections rating. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

Historical

The last area we scored is long-term care, in which this facility was given a grade of C. Even though this ended up being its poorest category rating, this is nevertheless not a poor grade. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 80.0813 percent of its residents, which is somewhat alarming. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.19 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes.
