Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this ended up being a strong nursing home is that it earned a very impressive inspection score. In fact, inspections is its best category grade. In this category, we awarded it an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility received strong scores in the category of long-term care as well. Consequently, it received one of our best grades in that category with a area of A-. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 99.715096 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility received a favorable short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher scores in that category with a score of B. In determining our short-term care scores, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This area is typically a solid assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The next category we looked at was nursing. We gave this nursing home a D for the area of nursing, leaving this as the nursing home's worst category grade. Our nursing rating features a variety of factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home offered only 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
