Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest grades in this category with an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's more favorable category scores was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B. It actually fared better than most nursing homes in this area. In calculating our short-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. We weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we considered the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. We weighed the licensure of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the number of hours those nurses worked with residents, in computing our score in this area. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure as it is well below average. Lastly, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this area.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we assessed is long-term care. For this category, we gave this facility a grade of C. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility vaccinated 97.69821 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable datapoint. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
