Long-term Care Quality
Even though we didn't rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable long-term care score this year. We gave it a B+ in this area, which was far better than its overall score. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. After we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 89.447235 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
Shockingly, this nursing home actually earned a good score in inspections as well. We awarded it a B for that category, which is one of our better grades. Few nursing homes that were this poor overall earned multiple category grades of this caliber. Inspection grades are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is not an impressive grade. Our short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. With its score in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this place is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Frankly, this was about what we expected to find. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics doomed this nursing home's short-term care grade.
Nurse Quality
The last area we analyzed was nursing, where this nursing home received a bottom of the barrel score here also. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. In determining a nursing home's nursing grade, we assess the number of hours nurses are with patients as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provided only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
