To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care grade. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 87.55981 percent of its patients. This is a few points lower than we expected but still a respectable figure. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Furthermore, this facility also earned impressive government inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with a B. Our inspection grades are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent government inspections. Nursing homes that score well in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. Our nursing rating assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Lastly, our nursing scores also consider quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

Switching gears to the final category, this nursing home received a decent short-term care grade of B-. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, we were not able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.
