Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we gave this place an A+ for our inspection category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Among its many dominant scores, this nursing home was awarded a top-shelf short-term care grade. In fact, it received a grade of A- in that area. In the category of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that category. When calculating our nursing ratings, we look at both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Alabama in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning patients more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
In the final category we scored, this nursing home received a very favorable grade of B+ in our long-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home rounded out a very favorable report card. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 89.49416 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
