Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to faring well overall, this facility also earned a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Our inspection ratings are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that category, we gave this facility an A+. Nursing ratings are mostly associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also received favorable short-term care scores this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our higher grades in that category, with a score of B+. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to forge a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we analyzed was long-term care. This nursing home received a strong long-term care rating this year, with a C. Although this is not quite as dominant as a few of its other category grades, this is nevertheless an acceptable rating in that category. In the area of long-term care, we look at the quantity of care provided by a facility, rather than more sophisticated services. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. We were concerned by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated just 83.87097 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this place keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
