Although we gave this place a poor overall score, we awarded it a grade of B for our inspections rating. This was due to the nursing home receiving a quality inspection report this year. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. This nursing home was hit with 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Sadly, this nursing home's next best category is long-term care. However, with a grade of D in this category, it still performed relatively badly. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinates 98.36066 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Our third category we analyzed was short-term care, in which this nursing home was given an F. Short-term care grades are often used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Based on its score in this area, we were not stunned to find that this place was well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

The final category we graded is nursing, in which this facility received a very poor score in this category as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. Our nursing rating analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to receiving below average marks for total nursing hours, this nursing home was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and found that this facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic.
