The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection score. Its inspection score was far superior to its overall score. In our inspections category, we gave this facility an A+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was awarded its second best category grade in the area of long-term care. We awarded this facility a B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable grade. In computing our long-term care ratings, we assess the assistance with daily living offered to a nursing home's residents. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 95.18519 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an D. We looked at the licensure of nurses working for the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time the nurses were with residents, in determining our score in this category. This place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This figure is far below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is short-term care, which turned out to be a low point for this facility. We gave this facility a grade of D for short-term care. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Given its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this place was well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the data we looked at. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
