Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we didn't give this place a good overall score, we actually gave it a strong grade in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also gave this nursing home a middle of the pack score in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Our short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The real question is whether this also impacted quality of care. The final measure we looked at in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. This figure was below the national average.

Nurse Quality

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these datapoints to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the next category, this facility didn't fare well here either. With a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities provide. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. Unfortunately, this facility vaccinated a relatively low 84.699455 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
