Facility Inspections
To pair with its relatively modest overall score, we gave this nursing home an A+ for its inspection grade. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. It does not look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without all of the deficiency related data for this facility, it ended up being challenging to really assess it in the area of inspections.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a middle of the road grade in the category of short-term care, with a grade of C. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is often a useful measure of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Long-term Care Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care rating. This is well below average in this category. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 91.52543 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
The next area we scored was nursing. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. This is obviously a major concern. Nursing scores are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. This nursing home also had abysmal marks in some of the quality-based metrics to go along with its weak nursing hours. We looked at the percent of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were quite disappointed. This facility was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this area. This is likely a bad sign in light of the fact that many pressure ulcers are preventable with better nursing care. This metric helped pull down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
