While we graded this facility very poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in this category. When calculating our nursing ratings, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a somewhat concerning figure which is well below average. Lastly, although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this statistic.

Turning to the category of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in this area. Unfortunately, this wound up being one of its better features. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. With a score of this caliber for this category, we weren't shocked to find that this facility was well below average in the two key staffing figures we looked at. It provided far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other nursing homes. This nursing home received very poor inspections in recent years, causing us to give them a lowly F for inspections. An F in this category is usually a sign that there were some red flags on the facility's government inspection reports. For facilities that received this poor of an inspection score, we would scrutinize any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a risk to patient safety or health. Finally, we need to draw your attention to the fact that this place received large government fines amounting to over $100,000. This usually signifies that a nursing home's poor performance has been an issue for more than one year.

The final area we scored was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this area, which is a rock bottom grade. Nursing homes that don't score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility provided the vaccine to just 35.978836 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
