Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in this area with an A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this facility received an impressive grade of B+ in the category of nursing. Our nursing rating is primarily tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. This is certainly a major disappointment. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 61.42857 percent of its residents, which is a bit of a concern. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
