Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we awarded it an A- for our inspections score. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Our inspection scores are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. This place received 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility ended up receiving a a terrible score in our long-term care category. It was given an F in this category. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to only 57.419353 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. In calculating our nursing scores, we assess both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This statistic is far below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we rated is short-term care, where this nursing home received a bottom of the barrel grade here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this area, which is definitely a major disappointment. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Given its poor grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this place provides significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most facilities. The final measure we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.5 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
