Even though this nursing home's overall score was terrible, it actually didn't perform as badly in nursing. In fact, we awarded it a B- for this area. In computing our short-term care grades, we size up the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is frequently a fair assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Moving on to the area of long-term care, this facility was given just a D in that area. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care likely don't provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. We were a bit concerned this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to only 65 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. The final category we assessed is inspections. This nursing home did not receive favorable government inspections in recent years. In fact, we gave it an F in this category. For facilities with poor inspection ratings, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
