Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While we were not high on this facility's overall grade, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that category with an A-. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. In the area of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. We were not able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Additionally, we gave this facility an F in the category of long-term care. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. After we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated just 74.88584 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The next area we looked at is nursing, where this facility was given an abysmal score here as well. We gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Our nursing score is based on a handful of factors, but the main one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility averaged a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This number is significantly below the national average. This nursing home also had terrible marks in several of the quality-based measures to go along with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers. This facility was at more than double the national average in this datapoint. This is quite alarming when you consider that many pressure ulcers are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of receiving a very weak nursing rating.
