Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection grades are based on several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's more respectable category grades came in the category of short-term care. This wound up being its second most respectable category. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B-. Short-term care grades are often used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 72.32143 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Moving on to the fourth category, we gave this facility a D for our nursing category. This is the nursing home's weakest category grade. We assessed the skill-level of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses worked with patients, in determining our rating in this category.
