Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was hit with 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an impressive score in our long-term care category. We gave this nursing home an above average grade of B+ in this area. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 97.98995 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the category of short-term care, this facility received a grade of just D in that area. In determining our short-term care scores, we scrutinize the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is often a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our next category, we gave this facility a grade of D for the area of nursing. This is the facility's worst category rating. Of course, this score hurt the facility's overall profile to some degree. The nursing score assesses quite a few data points, however, the paramount one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is slightly below average. On top of its subpar nursing hour totals, this place also earned poor scores in many of the quality-based measures we considered in computing our nursing grades. We found that a higher percentage of this facility's residents sustained falls leading to major injury.
