Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong nursing home overall, it also earned A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly perfect. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also received an A+ long-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to be given multiple A+ category scores. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. After we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a dangerous ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility is also above average in the area of short-term care, where it was given a grade of B+. It performed more favorably than most facilities in this area. Our short-term care grades are presumably more important for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. It doesn't look like this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the final area, we gave this facility a D for nursing. This is the nursing home's worst category rating. However, we would not over-emphasize one bad score. The nursing score is based on a handful of subcategories, but the main one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Unfortunately, this place also didn't perform as well as we hoped in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in this category.
