While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which is one of our better scores. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Sadly, this facility received an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care grade is often employed to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home.

In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. In determining a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the amount of time nurses are caring for patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

The final category we rated is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is a rock bottom grade. Long-term care scores in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia.
