Facility Inspections
The main reason this ended up being a decent nursing home is that it received an excellent inspection grade. Its inspection grade was far better than its overall score. In our inspections category, we gave this facility a grade of A+. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also would like to point out that this facility was awarded strong long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with a B. This proved to be the nursing home's second best grade. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 86.31579 percent of its patients. This is slightly lower than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home's third best category was short-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this area, it still performed relatively badly. Short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. With a score in this range for this category, we were not surprised to find that this nursing home was well below average in the two key staffing figures we focus on. The nursing home supplied significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics doomed this nursing home's short-term care grade.
Nurse Quality
This facility's least impressive area is nursing, which is the final area we looked at. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area. Despite some decent grades in other categories, this score is nevertheless alarming so we felt obligated to make sure you are aware. There are a variety of subcategories included in this category. Many of these criteria are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these data points to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
