Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also excelled in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes did better in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is typically a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This is a proven method to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the elderly population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. We scrutinized the levels of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses spent with residents, in determining our rating in this area. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a resident even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
In the final category, we awarded this facility a grade of A for our short-term care score. This wrapped up an elite profile. In the category of short-term care, we seek to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
