Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility performed even better in the area of inspections which is associated with the nursing home's recent inspection reports. In fact, we gave it an A+ for this area, which is one of our best grades. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Contributing to this nursing home's list of achievements, it also received a very favorable long-term care grade. We gave them an elite strong of A- in this area. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 97.26028 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death ailment for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of B- in this category is by no means a bad score. There are numerous datapoints within this grade. Most of these subcategories are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's least impressive category is short-term care, which is the last area we assessed. For this area, we gave this nursing home a D. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more meaningful for people in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was subpar in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the staffing figures we assessed. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics doomed this facility's short-term care grade.
