Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only earned a grade of D for its short-term care score, which turns out to be one of its more favorable category grades. Our short-term care ratings are critical for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 5.2 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below average.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score consists of several factors, however, the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This number is significantly below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the last category, this facility did not perform very well here either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 84.474884 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
